Legal Civil Marriage in Abu Dhabi
The Law No. 14 of 2021 Concerning Personal Status for Non-Muslim Foreigners (Abu Dhabi Law), which is applicable to non-Muslim foreigners and citizens in Abu Dhabi, has been passed by the Emirates of Abu Dhabi.
In accordance with the Lawyers of Abu Dhabi, a marriage between a man and a woman who are both non-Muslims is permissible. According to Article 4 of the Abu Dhabi Law, a number of requirements must be completed before a legal marriage can be contracted.
The prerequisites include that both parties must be at least 18 years old, that they must express their explicit consent to the marriage in front of the judge and demonstrate that there are no legal obstacles preventing it, that they must both sign the required declaration form and any other requirements that may be imposed by the appropriate authorities.

The foreigner would have to submit an application in a specific form that is developed for this purpose in order to enter into a civil marriage in Abu Dhabi. Before getting married, there is no need to present a medical examination certificate. After both partners have filled out the form in front of the court, marriage will be performed.
The terms of the marriage contract may be jointly agreed upon by the parties, taking into account their respective legal obligations throughout the union and in the event of a divorce.
It would be required to disclose any prior marriages on the form. It would be necessary to specify the divorce date and provide evidence that there is no active marriage at the time of filing.
The judge will approve the marriage following the completion of the above-mentioned steps once it is confirmed that all requirements for entering into a civil marriage have been satisfied. After that, the marriage contract will be entered into the register created for this purpose.
